Licensing

Overview
Purchasing a license tag and attaching it to your pet’s collar is one of the most important things you can do as a responsible pet owner. Displaying a current Contra Costa County license tag on your pet’s collar makes it easy for animal control officers and shelter employees to quickly locate a lost pet’s owner information. It could be your pet’s ticket home!

Effective July 2, 2018, Contra Costa Animal Services (CCAS) has formed a new and exciting partnership with PetData to provide pet licensing services for residents of Contra Costa County. PetData also services the City of Antioch, Solano County, San Mateo County and many other partnering Animal Welfare agencies, so we’re in good hands.

Two different options are available for County residents licensing pets - online, or by mail.

Applying for a License Online

To license your animal online, go to PetData.com and enter your zip code. You can license multiple pets at the same time, and easily upload required documents.  All major credit cards are accepted, and a small convenience fee will apply per transaction.

Applying for a License by Mail

To license by mail, simply mail a copy of your pet’s current rabies certificate and any other applicable documentation, along with your check payable to:
