WHO: Any interested Veteran in Contra Costa County. THIS YEAR WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BRING YOUR FAMILY. No painting experience necessary. This is a chance for self-expression. Nothing is being sold. There is no registration fee nor material fee for Veterans who live in Contra Costa.

WHAT: An in-depth acrylic painting class. You will be asked to explore your experience as a veteran and tell your story of transitioning from military life through a self-portrait or other subject as an avenue of self-expression. Artist Victoria Bianco and Veteran Felisa Gaffney will lead you through a series of painting exercises over two days that will result in a finished 18” x 20” painting. Family members may work on other art projects.

WHERE: Workshops are being offered this year at the Concord Veterans Center and at Diablo Valley College. See each workshop for date, location and time.

WHEN: Workshops will be offered March, April & May 2019. Choose the date, time and location that works well for you when you register.

This will take you to the website of Returning Veterans of Diablo Valley.

Your registration helps us know how much art material to bring to the workshop. We will email you a conformation of your registration or inform you if the workshop has been canceled due to low enrollment.

AC5 is pleased to be partnering with the Contra Costa Veterans Service Department, Contra Costa Library, Returning Veterans of Diablo Valley and Diablo Valley College.

FUNDING: The California Arts Council’s Veterans in the Arts program and Contra Costa County offer this program as a free service to veterans living or working in Contra Costa County. Additional support comes from Friends of AC5 [501(c)3] and Returning Veterans of Diablo Valley.
