Making 2016 another big year of giving
Contra Costa County employees are more generous than our residents probably realize.  In the fall, they donate to charity organizations representing a wide range of areas of need through the Combined Charities Campaign.

Each November and December, staff members volunteer their time, energy and resources to raising money for the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties.  With a friendly competition between the two counties, and a little more than a decade of rivalry, our cumulative fundraising surpassed the $1.4 million dollar mark.  Even with such a spectacular achievement, County staff continues to aim higher each year.

The Food Bank greatly appreciates the support of County employees as well as that of the Contra Costa County community at large.

The 2016 Food Fight is now upon us, officially kicking off on November 21. It's time to get into the spirit of the holidays by visiting the dedicated Holiday Food Fight donation page on the Food Bank's website and donate online.  We've created an online "cheat sheet" to walk you through the steps for making an online donation.  Thank you for helping families in need in Contra Costa County.

County departments have "food fighters" leading the competition for their departments and the County in this friendly competition.  They will be holding special events and fun challenges throughout November and December to encourage fellow staff members to contribute to the Food Bank through the Holiday Food Fight. Our thanks to County Veterans Service Office Nathan Johnson for his thoughtful and inspiring letter to County employees encouraging them to take part.

Your friends and family can contribute as a member of the public as well, and show their support by designating Contra Costa County as their partner organization.  They can also designate the department they want to be credited for their contribution.

Last year was a very special year for the Food Bank, as it celebrated 40 years of extraordinary services to our most vulnerable residents.  Find out more about the achievements of the organization in the Food Bank's 40th Anniversary Video.  Let's help make the 41st year the most successful ever! And let's not forget that the Food Bank was begun 41 years ago by County employees, so we're just continuing what we started so long ago.

Thank you for continuing to support the Food Bank!
